Point process models for household distributions within small areal units

چکیده
Spatio-demographic data sets are increasingly available worldwide, permitting ever more realistic modeling and analysis of social processes ranging from mobility to disease transmission. The information provided by these data sets is typically aggregated by areal unit, for reasons of both privacy and administrative cost. Unfortunately, such aggregation does not permit fine-grained assessment of geography at the level of individual households. In this paper, we propose to partially address this problem via the development of point process models that can be used to effectively simulate the location of individual households within small areal units. 1 Corresponding author. Exploring the Relationships between Spatial and Demographic Parameters and Urban Water Consumption in Esfahan Using Association Rule Mining
In recent years, Iran has faced serious water scarcity and excessive use of water resources. Therefore, exploring the pattern of urban water consumption and the relationships between geographic and demographic parameters and water usage is an important requirement for effective management of water resources. In this study, association rule mining has been used to analyze the data of municipal w...
متن کاملA Spatially Disaggregated Areal Interpolation Model Using Light Detection and RangingDerived Building Volumes
Dasymetric areal interpolation is the process by which data are transferred from a spatial unit system for which they are available (source units) to another system for which they are required (target units) with the aid of ancillary information (control units). We propose a spatially disaggregated areal interpolation model for population data using light detection and ranging (LiDAR)-derived b...
متن کاملA procedure to characterize geographic distributions of rare disorders in cohorts
BACKGROUND Individual point data can be analyzed against an entire cohort instead of only sampled controls to accurately picture the geographic distribution of populations at risk for low prevalence diseases. Analyzed as individual points, many smaller clusters with high relative risks (RR) and low empirical p values are indistinguishable from a random distribution. When points are aggregated i...
متن کاملBayesian nonparametric areal wombling for small-scale maps with an application to urinary bladder cancer data from Connecticut.
With increasingly abundant spatial data in the form of case counts or rates combined over areal regions (eg, ZIP codes, census tracts, or counties), interest turns to formal identification of difference "boundaries," or barriers on the map, in addition to the estimated statistical map itself. "Boundary" refers to a border that describes vastly disparate outcomes in the adjacent areal units, per...
متن کاملEmpirical Zoning Distributions for Small Area Health Data
Many health studies use aggregate data such as the means or totals for areal units or zones when individual level data are not available. An ecological analysis using these data typically produces estimates that differ from those obtained using the corresponding individual level analysis. This is due to the modifiable area unit problem (MAUP) whereby the results of the analysis depend on the sc...
